Ed Rahn Photography

Hi, I'm Ed!

I was in a High School Art Class, when my Friend, Photographer and Editor for the School Year Book. Handed me his camera, gave me a five minute tutorial and told me to take pictures. For the rest of that day, I took a lot of pictures. The next week I was told, The Year Book was going to use a dozen of my photos. That day I went from Famous Artist to Photographer.

I bought my first camera that summer and have had a camera in my hand, since that summer.

Travel and enjoying the outdoors is a love of mine. Photography is a part of me and I can't imagine not photographing anything that catches my eye.

My Top Three Favorite National Parks

Yellowstone National Park

I love taking photos in Yellowstone National Park. The wildlife is spectacular.

Grand Canyon National Park

There are literally millions of compositions to be found at the Grand Canyon, I could spend months there exploring with my camera.

Redwoods NP

I love taking photos in Redwoods NP. It's one of the best places to get your "Green Fix".

What Photography Means To Me

Photography changed my life

Photography helps me look at the world in a different way. Because of photography, I notice shapes and patterns that nobody else seems to notice, and I want to photograph them! I seem to pick out leading lines, or naturally occurring frames in the landscape, and I often pull out my phone to take a quick snapshot.

I truly believe that photography helps me enjoy my surroundings more. I have a new appreciation for the beauty of the earth, and I love sharing that beauty with others through my photos. More than just an artistic outlet, photography has become a way for me to be present, mindful, and more deeply connected to the world around me.

My favorite Photo

I have a difficult time choosing my favorite photo. It is a similar task to choosing my favorite song, or favorite food. It's not easy.

I find that the photo that might be my favorite today will change by next month, and that is because I tend to get attached to the most recent photos I have taken. With that said, this photo is my favorite this month...haha. By next month I hope I will have taken a new photo that I love even more!

My Camera

I love my camera deeply—not just as a tool, but as a constant companion in my journey through life.

It's been with me across continents, capturing moments both grand and intimate, giving me the power to freeze time and tell stories through light and perspective. From quiet alleys in old towns to sweeping mountain vistas, it has helped me see the world more clearly and express the way I feel about it.
